Expert doctors at KIMS Sikhara Hospitals, Guntur, achieved a major milestone in neuro-interventional care by successfully performing an advanced brain aneurysm treatment. They used the NEQstent device for the first time in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The patient, Mr Y. Srinivasa Rao, a 48-year-old man, known to have a case of hypertension, CAD and post-PTCA, was brought to the emergency department with loss of consciousness and tongue bite. On evaluation by Dr Lakshman and the medical team, he was diagnosed with a wide-neck brain aneurysm located at the bifurcation of the Middle Cerebral Artery.
Due to the complex structure of the aneurysm, conventional coiling was challenging. The procedure was performed by Dr Gottipati Pushpak Venkat Choudary, Consultant Neuro Interventional Radiologist, along with Dr Lakshman Rao Chittam and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Reddy Sura. The NEQstent device helped provide neck support, enabling safe coil placement while preserving normal blood flow.
The successful surgery highlights KIMS Sikhara Hospitals’ advanced capabilities in minimally invasive neurovascular treatment and multidisciplinary critical care.
