Rare Brain Tumour Surgery Performed Successfully on Infants at KIMS Sikhara

KIMS Sikhara Hospitals, Guntur, successfully performed rare surgical procedures on two newborn infants. The condition was diagnosed while the babies were still in the womb.

The surgeries were carried out within one week of their birth. Each infant had a brain tumour measuring approximately 5 x 5 cm. After several hospitals expressed concern over the high-risk nature of the cases, the families approached KIMS Sikhara Hospitals for advanced treatment.

A specialised team led by neurosurgeon Dr Chittem Lakshmana Rao, along with anaesthesiologist Dr. Kalyan Ram and the neonatal care team from KIMS Cuddles, conducted thorough evaluations before surgery.

Using advanced medical technology, the team successfully removed the brain tumours. Both infants recovered well and are reported to be in good health.

Doctors stated that such cases are extremely rare and emphasised the importance of timely diagnosis, expert neonatal support and advanced neurosurgical care in managing complex conditions in newborns.
