KIMS Sikhara Hospital, Guntur, organised a health awareness session on arthritis-related disorders and bone health as part of a community health initiative conducted in association with a local awareness organisation. Speaking at the event, renowned rheumatologist Dr. Alekhya Amudalapalli highlighted the increasing prevalence of osteoporosis and arthritis-related conditions among people of different age groups.
She explained that osteoporosis develops due to reduced calcium levels in bones, increasing the risk of fractures even from minor injuries. Dr. Alekhya emphasized the importance of Vitamin D absorption through regular sunlight exposure, recommending at least 60 minutes of walking or exercise daily.
The session also focused on autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis, gout, osteoarthritis and myositis. She explained common symptoms including joint stiffness, swelling, skin rashes, muscle weakness and inflammation, urging individuals to seek timely medical consultation. Doctors at KIMS Sikhara stressed that early diagnosis and proper treatment can help prevent disease progression and improve quality of life.
